Non-Objective Squares

create something that has one line from a corner to another corner.
make it non-objective.

these were all the instructions given to us for this assignment.

this is one of my most favorite pieces.
i haven't had a lot of experience drawing non-objective art so this was a stretch for me.
but once i started drawing, it all just came to me.

i started by drawing my line from the center and then out to the two corners.
i then added shapes on the right hand side.
i wanted to make a contrast between the outside of the triangle that i had made with the lines
and the inside of the triangle.

i used watercolor to make this difference as well as shapes.
i love sharpie. i love clean lines.
i love white space.

this is how this project came to be.

through this project i learned that:

it was hard doing something i had never done before.
but once i completely dove into the project, i realized that
i can do hard things.

why i did what i did:

i love contrast. i like making things stand out by color and shapes.
this was a perfect opportunity to do something that i love.
i wasn't given much guidance so i just did what i liked to do.

this project is a great way for:

~helping children think out of the box~
~give them something that they aren't used to doing~
~helping them see that shapes can be art~
